Job summary

The Family Support Worker at Lillooet Tribal Council provides outreach intervention services to families who are experiencing difficulties with parenting and who are potentially at risk of family breakdown.

Responsibilities include strong interpersonal and verbal communication, crisis intervention, access to community resources, and maintaining records. A valid driver’s license and a Vulnerable Sector check are required.

Qualifications

• Minimal Human Service Worker Diploma with 5 years’ experience or A Bachelor of Social Work and two (2) years related experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of St’át’imc culture and ability to work with Aboriginal people.
• Ability to work with Aboriginal families and communities.

Responsibilities

• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Knowledge of community resources available to clients and their families and how to access them.
• The ability to use tact and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
• Proven crisis intervention skills.
• Work individually and with a team.
• Responsible for records, file maintenance, and reporting.
• Must be willing to submit to and clear a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
