Role and Facility Information
We are a group of family physicians and allied health practitioners looking to add one additional family doctor to our dynamic team.
Our clinic is patient-centered, aiming to create real partnerships with patients and our broader community. We strive to create a positive working environment for providers and staff, with an emphasis on work-life balance. We are interested in innovative models of care, including team-based care, virtual care, and group visits and workshops.
We have recently relocated our clinic into a stunning, custom-designed and renovated clinical space, incorporating nature-inspired features, natural light, local art, as well as new and modern clinic equipment and technology. We also have a garden and outdoor seating area for physicians, staff, and patients to enjoy, and a staff washroom with a shower to support those wanting to add activity into their transportation or workday. Each physician works out of one large clinic room, with shared workstations throughout the clinic.
We aim to leverage technology to streamline our workflows and create office efficiencies to keep overhead low. We intend to incorporate virtual visits permanently into our practices. Physicians are asked to work from home one day each week, although this can be negotiated if needed.
We use the modern Telus CHR (formerly InputHealth), integrating video visits, online booking, and automated appointment reminders within the EMR system, as well as secure messaging with patients. Features such as customizable encounter templates and virtual patient questionnaires further reduce administration and charting time and improve patient experience.
We are active members of our community's growing patient care network (PCN) and have incorporated allied health members into our team, including an RN, social worker, mental health clinician, pharmacist, and dietitian. We also have two private allied health practitioners at our clinic - a registered dietitian and a clinical counsellor. Quality improvement and innovation are integral aspects of our practice, and the right fit will be someone who is actively engaged and shares these interests.
We have management and billing support experience with all remuneration systems currently available in the province: Fee for Service, Group Salary Contract, New to Practice Contracts, and the Longitudinal Family Practice payment model.
Given the attachment crisis in our community, we are prioritizing bringing on a physician who can attach new patients and build a practice.
Status: Part-Time, 0.6 - 0.8 FTE. New to practice opportunity.
Location: Courtenay, BC
Shift/Hours of Work: Flexible hours, currently availability includes Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings, and Fridays. 2-2.5 days a week of in-person clinic time. Will include some virtual and admin work from home.

LFP physicians will pay a percentage of billings on a sliding scale, based on FTE, range is 20-25%, as well as 10% of the yearly panel payment.
