Who you are

  • You have worked as a Family Practice Anesthetist (FPA) for a minimum of 1 year, with experience working in a similar role.
  • You have a Medical Degree from a recognized medical school and postgraduate studies (residency) in the field of Anesthesiology.
  • You possess a valid license to practice medicine in New Brunswick through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick (CPSNB).
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset.
  • Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

What you will do

Reporting to the Anesthesiology Department Head and the Medical Director for the area, the Family Practice Anesthetist (FPA) collaborates with other Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and other Allied Medical Staff to provide:

  • Responsible for the care of patients prior to, during, and after surgical operations, labor and delivery, and interventional procedures.
  • Provide anesthetic services to patients for surgical, obstetrical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures, including elective and emergency operations, anesthetic consultations, acute care management services, and pain management.
  • FPA physicians can also provide support in the Emergency Department and/or Family Medicine OB service, if desired.
