FAMILY PHYSICIAN - n.St'át'imc Primary Care Centre
The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization composed of professional, innovative, and dedicated team members and leaders.
As the first of its kind in Canada, FNHA collaborates as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to enhance health outcomes.
The salary range is aligned with the 2024-25 Physician Master Agreement, including a 13.97% annual Rural Retention Program premium and additional incentives as eligible. Specific rate details are available at this link.
The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to culturally safe primary healthcare services for First Nations across BC, integrating team-based care within community settings and creating primary care networks in partnership with Regional Health Authorities.
Developing new First Nations Primary Health Care Centres in rural and urban areas, these centres will provide accessible, respectful, and holistic care that respects First Nations ways of knowing and being.
The n.St'át'imc Primary Care Centre (PCC), based in Lillooet, will offer culturally safe, trauma-informed primary care to members of six northern St’át’imc First Nation communities. It will incorporate Western medicine and traditional wellness practices, providing holistic care for individuals and families.
Initially operating out of the current FNHA Nursing Clinic in Lillooet, the centre will share space with nursing outreach services and will deliver wraparound, team-based primary care, mental health, and traditional wellness services. Operating hours are expected to be Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, with potential adjustments over time.
The Family Physician will be the primary provider for a client panel, practicing within a team-based environment that supports both Western and Traditional Wellness approaches. The expected panel size is approximately 650 patients per FTE by year 3, with specifics to be confirmed in the clinical service contract. The role involves traveling with the team to different sites within the communities on Fridays.
The Family Physician will practice with cultural humility, providing comprehensive, culturally safe primary care that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, in accordance with BC health policies and standards.
