The community of Canso has an opportunity for one full-time physician. There is potential to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University, if of interest. The local community hospital, Eastern Memorial Hospital, serves the population in eastern Guysborough County. The nearest regional hospital, St. Martha's Regional Hospital, is approximately 130 kilometres from Canso. The compensation model for the position is an alternate payment plan (APP). The family practice office is community-owned and staffed with administrative support.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full scope of practice as a family physician, providing care to patients within the eastern zone and participating in call duties.
  • Be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for professional responsibilities and quality of practice, operating within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
