Community and Practice Details

The community of Canso offers a full-time physician opportunity with potential engagement in research and teaching positions with Dalhousie University. The local hospital, Eastern Memorial Hospital, serves the eastern part of Guysborough County, with the regional hospital, St. Martha's Regional Hospital, approximately 130 km away. The position follows an alternate payment plan (APP), and the family practice office is community-owned with administrative support.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide full scope of family medicine practice, including patient care within the eastern zone and participation in call duties.
  2. Report to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice regarding professional responsibilities and quality of practice.
  3. Operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Expected Hours
  • Full-time, part-time, or flexible scheduling options available.
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
