Job description

Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.

Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.

Work setting:

  • Urban area
  • Clinic

Tasks:

  1. Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals.
  2. Examine patients' health conditions to identify diseases and injuries.
  3. Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits, and reshape their approach to wellness.
  4. Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment.
  5. Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health.
  6. Prescribe and administer medications and treatments.
  7. Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases.
  8. Advise patients on health care.
  9. Be the patient advocate.
  10. Coordinate or manage primary patient care.
  11. Provide counseling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues.
