Bellagio Law is a boutique law firm in Calgary, focused primarily on family law. We’re a small but growing practice that puts people first—our clients and our team. We handle a wide range of family matters, from high-conflict litigation to amicable separation agreements. We also work occasionally in estate matters and residential real estate.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a Family Lawyer to join us on a contract basis under a fee-split model, ideally with at least 2–3 years of post-call experience in Alberta. The right candidate is confident running their files, comfortable in court, and aligned with our commitment to client-centered, honest, and efficient service.

You’ll handle your caseload (mostly family law), with occasional work in estate matters or real estate if desired.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and advance family law files from start to finish (divorce, parenting, support, property)
• Represent clients in court (Docket, Chambers, and trials) and ADR proceedings (mediation/arbitration)
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, briefs, and settlement agreements
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
• Collaborate with other lawyers and professionals when needed
• Occasionally assist with estate matters or real estate closings (if within your interest/skillset)

Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
• Minimum 2 years post-call experience in family law (litigation experience required)
• Solid drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
• Organized, reliable, and able to manage files independently
• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in estate or real estate law is an asset, not a requirement
• Internationally trained lawyers welcome (if authorized to practice in Alberta)

Compensation & Flexibility

• Fee-split model (based on experience, caseload, and billing)
• Estimated earning potential: $100,000–$250,000/year
• Hybrid work model (Calgary-based, with remote flexibility)
