Job summary

STOKES LAW LLP in Calgary is seeking a Family Lawyer with litigation and ADR experience to join our legal team. Preferably three+ years post-call. Calgary-based; option to work from home with a 4-day work week model.

You will provide legal advice, draft documents, represent clients in court, and collaborate with colleagues in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• When Calgary-based applicant with 3+ years post-call preferred.
• Experience in family law litigation and ADR.
• Licensed to practise in Alberta (Law Society certificate).

Responsibilities

• Provide family law advice on divorce, parenting, and property division.
• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, and agreements.
• Conduct legal research to support cases.
• Collaborate with other lawyers and external professionals.

STOKES LAW LLP - Calgary Family Law Associate

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Family Lawyer who has litigation and ADR experience to join our legal team. Preferably three (3) years or more post-call experience.

Must be Calgary based.

*Note - there is an option to work a 4 day work week model - Monday to Thursday - extended hours.

You may work from home.

As a Family Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to clients in various family law matters and assisting on existing files. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment where we prioritize a team-based approach to files, with the ability to work remotely from anywhere.

Duties

• - Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on family law matters, including divorce, parenting, high conflict litigation, ADR, support, and property division.
• - Conduct legal research to support case preparation.
• - Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
• - Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
• - Collaborate with other lawyers and external professionals to develop effective legal strategies.
• - Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and case precedents.
• - Work collaboratively with a team.

Skills

• - Strong writing skills to draft clear and concise legal documents.
• - Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
• - Knowledge of legal drafting techniques to prepare accurate and effective legal documents.
• - Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice to clients.
• - Be prepared to work on a fee-split model.
