Job summary

The Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a dedicated individual to provide support and advocacy within the community. The role involves case management, liaising with child welfare services, and offering educational resources to families. Ideal candidates should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be committed to the well-being of Anishinaabe children and families. A degree in social services or education is preferred, and knowledge of local regulations will be considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Degree/diploma certificate in Social Services/Education preferred.
  • Knowledge of prevention services and child welfare regulations is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in the local language is an asset.

  • Monitor case files and liaise with Child Welfare agencies.

Job description

  • Provide support and advocacy to maintain family unit.
  • Participate in all case conferences, and planning for all children and families
  • Case notes all meetings and provide update in client files
  • Monitor status and implementation of all open files with all Child Welfare agencies
  • Follow up with families to ensure all information is correct and services are being provided
  • Make referrals to appropriate resources
  • Provide transportation to ensure children are kept out of care, should protection not be warranted.
  • Liaison with community resources to provide support to families.
  • Provide community members with education by way of posters, pamphlets and workshops
  • Other duties as required

  • Knowledge of: Prevention programming/services, Child & Family Services
  • Act/Regulations, local community & family structure is an asset
  • Strong commitment to help Anishinaabe children and their families by providing service.
  • Degree/diploma certificate in Social Services/Education would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Power Point)
  • Ability to communicate in the local language would be an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant legislation
