Job summary

McGill University is seeking Teaching Assistants for the Fall 2025 semester in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Candidates must be McGill Graduate Students and will assist in various courses, providing support in teaching and grading. The positions require a degree in chemical engineering and relevant coursework. Strong knowledge in specific areas such as MATLAB and biotechnology is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Having been a TA for the course previously is a plus.
  • Strong background in biotechnology and/or biology for CHEE370.
  • Excellent knowledge of MATLAB for CHEE390.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in teaching and grading for various Chemical Engineering courses.
  • Be on campus to perform tasks in person as required.

Position Summary: Teaching Assistant position as governed by the AGSEM Collective Agreement.

Qualifications:

  • Having been a TA for the course previously is a plus.
  • Degree in chemical engineering.

Specific course requirements include:

  • Elements of Biotechnology (CHEE370): strong background in biotechnology and/or biology; must have completed CHEE 370 or its equivalent.
  • Computational Methods in Chemical Engineering (CHEE390): excellent knowledge of MATLAB.
  • CHEE400: coursework in Energy Science, Renewable Energy, and Sustainability; understanding of energy resources, conversion, efficiency, and material systems.
  • Process Design (CHEE453): excellent knowledge of HYSYS.
  • CHEE455: completed CHEE455 or equivalent; basic MATLAB and Simulink skills.
  • Material Surfaces (CHEE515): knowledge of optical effects, structural coloration, wetting, surface forces, and biomimetic design; previously completed CHEE 515.
  • CHEE541: prior coursework in electrochemistry or related courses.
  • Laboratory Safety (CHEE681/682): WHMIS certification; biosafety, waste management, and other safety certifications are desirable.
