Job summary

Agnico Eagle seeks an Environment Intern to support its Environmental department at the Meadowbank Complex in Nunavut. You will engage in vital environmental monitoring and data compilation tasks while working collaboratively and ensuring safety compliance. The role includes a 14 days on, 14 days off schedule with on-site accommodation and travel support.

Job description

Reporting to the Environment Coordinator, the Environment Intern is part of the Environment department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Process water sampling and monitoring;
  2. Compile environmental monitoring data for regulatory reporting requirements;
  3. Work safely, effectively, independently, and collaboratively;
  4. Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment;
  5. Execute work for Environmental Programs;
  6. Assist and organize stakeholder meetings on managing reported items;
  7. Monitor and inspect freshet-related items along the Meadowbank, Amaruq roads, and sites;
  8. Install mitigation measures;
  9. Ensure constant communication between Environment and other departments;
  10. Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  1. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or Technical diploma in Environmental studies or related field;
  2. Must be enrolled in your university’s formal Co-op program;
  3. Versatility and adaptability in wildlife, water, sampling, and site-related activities;
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  5. Strong work ethic and adaptability to change;
  6. High energy, self-motivation, and organizational skills;
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills;
  8. Ability to work outdoors in summer and winter;
  9. Commitment to safety and compliance with safety regulations and AEM standards.
Additional Information:
  • The official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.
  • Work Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off for transportation and rest.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on-site at no cost. Travel expenses are covered by Agnico Eagle, including charter flights and other travel costs based on residence.
