Faculty of Nursing, Sessional Nursing Instructors
Term 3, BScN Program (Fall 2025) & Term 4, BScN Program (Winter 2026)

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach undergraduate clinical courses for the Fall Semester 2025 and Winter Semester 2026 in the BScN program:

FALL SEMESTER (September 2 - December 5, 2025)

  • Term 3 - NRSG 350 (Care of the Aging Adult)
    Schedule:
    • Option #1: Off-campus Monday & Tuesday with On-campus Lab Wednesday 0900-1200
    • Option #2: Off-campus Thursday & Friday with On-campus Lab Wednesday 0900-1200
  • Term 3 - NRSG 351 (Health Promotion)
    Schedule:
    • Option #1: Off-campus Monday & Tuesday with On-campus Lab Wednesday 1300-1600
    • Option #2: Off-campus Thursday & Friday with On-campus Lab Wednesday 1300-1600

WINTER SEMESTER (January 12 - April 14, 2026)

  • Term 4 - NRSG 352 (Acute Care Nursing I)
    Schedule:
    • Option #1: Off-campus Tuesday & Wednesday with On-campus Lab Monday 0900-1200
    • Option #2: Off-campus Thursday & Friday with On-campus Lab Monday 1300-1600

We seek applicants with nursing practice in acute and chronic care environments, especially those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education occurs both on and off campus, with schedules that may include days and evenings from Monday to Friday. Applicants must be available for the entire term, with orientation the week prior.

Sessional Instructors receive comprehensive orientation, mentorship, and professional development. Remuneration is based on the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. For details, visit http://www.ucalgary.ca/hr/tucfa-ca.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate simulation activities in the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre
  • Work with small groups of students in clinical settings
  • Participate in team meetings and faculty governance
  • Assess and evaluate students
  • Apply diverse teaching strategies and collaborate with colleagues
  • Promote inquiry and evidence-informed practice

Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. BN/BScN or higher degrees are preferred.

  • Current practice in relevant areas
  • Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring, and supervision
