Faculty - Occupational Therapy Assistant - Physiotherapy Assistant

Location: Lunenburg Campus, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

School of Health and Human Services

Term: Full-Time Position, starting approximately August 18, 2025, and ending approximately December 27, 2027

The salary scale for NSCC Faculty ranges from $74,170.79 to $102,223.12. New faculty may receive up to five steps for relevant occupational experience and up to four additional steps for full-time instructional experience, with a maximum of nine steps or $95,478.45.

What you'll do

Responsibilities:

  • Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Occupational Therapy Assistant - Physiotherapy Assistant program.
  • Design and deliver educational experiences for diverse learners, utilizing various teaching methods and technologies such as Brightspace and classroom tech.
  • Additional duties include academic advising, committee participation, program marketing, curriculum development, supporting work placements, liaising with industry, representing the college, and upholding policies.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed in classrooms, labs, and shops.
  • Stay current with industry practices and develop understanding of modern teaching and learning methods. Teaching may occur across various programs, modalities, and hours, including weekends and evenings.
What you'll need

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • A university degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy from a recognized institution, with registration with the relevant licensing body.
  • Minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) recent occupational experience in the relevant field. Current membership in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists.
  • Familiarity with computer applications like Microsoft Office and basic internet skills.
  • Experience liaising with industry and delivering adult education programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and safety practices.
  • Comfort with multimedia and online teaching platforms, with willingness to undergo training if needed.
