Job summary

CoolIT Systems is seeking a Factory Test Specialist in Calgary to ensure quality and performance of in‑process and finished liquid cooling products through robust factory testing. Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and wear PPE as required.
  • Define and drive factory test requirements during New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Document in-process and end-of-line factory test procedures for liquid cooling products.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for complex yield escapes and customer returns using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Establish Cp/Cpk capability requirements and validate process capability prior to production ramp-up.

Role

The Factory Test Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality and performance of in‑process and finished liquid cooling products through robust factory testing. This role applies industrial expertise in test processes, sensing techniques, signal conditioning, and electromechanical systems, with a strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics. The specialist drives continuous improvement in factory test methods, improves first‑pass yield, and collaborates closely with the factory test team to meet financial targets and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment.
  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection, as required.
  • Actively participate in safety training sessions and promptly report any safety concerns or hazards.
  • Comply with industry regulations and company policies to ensure proper handling of electro‑mechanical components and systems.
Quality
  • Define and drive factory test requirements during New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with design, test and qualification, manufacturing engineering and manufacturing teams, especially in DFM discussions.
  • Document in‑process and end‑of‑line factory test procedures for liquid cooling products.
  • Implement in‑process and end‑of‑line factory test procedures in the CoolIT MES system.
  • Design manufacturing test equipment.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations for complex yield escapes and customer returns using structured problem‑solving methodologies (8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Define and maintain statistical process control (SPC) frameworks for critical‑to‑quality (CTQ) parameters.
  • Establish Cp/Cpk capability requirements and validate process capability prior to production ramp‑up.
Who You Are
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial testing, lab testing, or electrical environment.
  • Academic courses in testing, automation, controls, signal conditioning, or related coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT designation.
Skills
  • Experience in high‑power testing (480 volts).
  • Experience in electrical panel testing.
  • Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
  • Proficiency in statistical methods and software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when dealing with cross‑functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and a process‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong collaboration and problem‑solving abilities with a proactive approach.
