Your Opportunity at SECURE

The Facility Operator is responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. Operators actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection, while keeping in constant contact with customers and demonstrating excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

Work Environment

This position is a 12-hour shift with 7 days on and 7 days off, alternating between days and nights located at our Athabasca Water Disposal Facility.

A Day in The Life

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
  • Responsible for truck unloading, including water and vac trucks
  • Loading water and oil trucks while ensuring compliance with all classification requirements in accordance with applicable governance regulations.
  • Injecting water and ensure ongoing maintenance of injection and charge pumps
  • Changing sour water injection filters as per SOP’s, using flush water system
  • Performing fluid transfers from tank to tank using a transfer pump
  • Skimming oil (i.e. transfer of hydrocarbons)
  • Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
  • Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
  • Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
  • Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
  • Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1-3 years operational experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection is an asset
  • Specialty training in boilers, pumps (all), and repairs is considered an asset
  • Proven ability to demonstrate strong methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations and water disposal
  • Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG
  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
