Job summary

Clean Harbors in Windsor, Ontario, is seeking a Facility Operations Supervisor to lead front-line operations across refinery, tank farm, and wastewater areas. You will supervise multiple plant employees, mentor operators, and act as the SME for assigned areas.

The role requires adherence to Health & Safety rules, SOPs, and permit management. You may be assigned additional duties as needed to meet business objectives, with a focus on safe and efficient operations.

  • Leadership experience in a plant or chemical facility.

  • Proficiency with SOPs and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise department and site operations (refinery, tank farm, wastewater).
  • Mentor multiple operators and plant staff; act as SME in areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety rules and SOPs; enforce permits and safe work practices.
  • Write and issue work permits; ensure timely, safe execution of tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area; adapt to business needs with additional duties.

Job description

Clean Harbors in Windsor, Ontario, is currently looking for a Facility Operations Supervisor to join their safety-conscious team! This role is responsible for front line leadership supervision of plant operations including refinery operations and wastewater operations depending on the department. Position includes supervision and direction of multiple plant employees.

Responsibilities
  • Performs supervision of department and site-specific plant operations, including, but not limited to, refinery operations, tank farm operations, and wastewater treatment.
  • Supervises and mentors multiple operators and plant operations.
  • Acts as the recognized subject matter expert and point of contact in their area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensures that employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and all other site-specific policies and procedures and holds employees accountable when they do not.
  • Ensures that supervised operations/employees understand and have ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards.
  • Write and issue work permits and ensure that work groups conduct permitted work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in their areas of responsibility.
  • May be assigned additional duties not listed above based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • Leadership skills/ability.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Initiative in problem solving and identification of hazards.
  • Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s), apply the SOPs, and suggest improvements when necessary.
  • Proficiency in Windows based applications (Word, Excel).
  • Plant operations experience or relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Plant supervision experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple site-specific plant operations.
  • All employees within the operations department are required to be clean shaven at all times and must be able to pass a mask fit test. The operations department employees are considered first responders in emergency situations, and a candidate must be comfortable performing in emergency situations.
