Job description

The Facility Maintenance Worker is a member of a team responsible for a full range of janitorial and light maintenance duties for the Mustard Seeds buildings. Duties include general janitorial tasks and building maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to participate in a team committed to developing hope, providing care with respect, and nurturing the seeds of change in the lives of our guests and residents.

Employment Type : Fixed Term (August 2025 to March 2026)

Schedule : 4 hours/day, 5 days/week (Saturday to Wednesday)

Reporting to : Director of Facilities Edmonton

City : Medicine Hat, AB

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Perform daily cleaning such as floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms (floors, toilets, sinks, urinals).
• Diagnose and perform routine maintenance and repairs, such as unclogging toilets & drains, repairing or replacing doorknobs, hinges, or locks, patching drywall (interior and exterior), replacing lightbulbs and ballasts, restocking supplies, collecting and disposing of refuse, managing inventory, responding to cleaning emergencies, operating cleaning equipment, removing snow and ice, maintaining lawn and garden, and communicating facility needs.
• Work with volunteers, guests, and residents, maintaining professionalism and tidiness.
• Ensure punctuality, attendance, and participate in staff meetings and training.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Perform all other duties as required at various sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• High School diploma or equivalent, with one-year janitorial experience or completion of trades-related courses.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S standards.
• Class 5 Driver's License required.
• Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work inside and outside in various climates.
• Moderate to extreme physical effort, including lifting at least 50 lbs.
• Focus on mental and physical effort, including sitting, standing, walking, driving.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
