Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

As a Facility Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Operations Manager, you will perform general building maintenance at National Defence sites in Thunder Bay, ON. The role includes responding to reactive maintenance calls after hours and on weekends on call.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  1. Performing various tasks such as general upkeep, repairs, painting, landscaping, snow removal, carpentry, plumbing, and other duties as needed.
  2. Ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, safety standards, and directives, including TSSA.
  3. Conducting risk assessments and developing pre-work safety and job plans.
  4. Estimating time and materials for repairs.
  5. Ordering necessary supplies in partnership with the planner.
  6. Maintaining professional communication with clients, employees, vendors, and contractors.
  7. Keeping tools and materials organized and in good condition.
  8. Performing additional duties as assigned by Contract Representatives.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  1. Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings; knowledge of building automation, HVAC, electrical systems, etc.
  2. Organized with the ability to support project plans.
  3. Research skills for specifications, drawings, and manuals.
  4. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  5. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  6. Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  7. Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
  8. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights, ladders, rooftops.
  9. Must pass a criminal background check and have over 5 years of Canadian citizenship for security clearance.
