Job description

Join to apply for the Facility Labourer role at GFL Environmental Inc.

The Facility Labourer is responsible for handling, consolidating, and processing hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received at the processing facilities to recycle key components. These may include used oils, aerosols, and filters. The successful candidate may also operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and loaders as needed. Emphasis is placed on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labor-intensive and repetitive tasks in a warehouse setting.

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers.
  • Verify that incoming waste conforms to acceptance protocols.
  • Operate processing machinery and equipment as required.
  • Follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
  • Conduct job hazard risk assessments.
  • Promote a safety culture among all employees.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Perform general shop cleanup and maintenance.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Reliable transportation to the facility.
  • Ability to perform moderately labor-intensive and repetitive tasks.
  • Physically capable of lifting over 50 lbs and standing on cement for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills and meticulous paperwork completion.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
