General Motors is seeking a Facility Area Manager (FAM) to lead the operation, maintenance, and improvement of facilities supporting Oshawa Assembly and the wider Oshawa campus. The role emphasizes safe, compliant, and cost-effective building systems and site services.

The FAM will guide cross-functional teams, manage projects, and coordinate with contractors while upholding GM Operating System principles and a strong safety culture on an active automotive manufacturing site in Oshawa, Ontario.

Qualifications

  • College degree with a major in engineering, facilities management, business, construction management, or a related discipline; equivalent training and experience may be considered.
  • Significant experience in facilities, industrial operations, manufacturing, maintenance, construction, utilities, or engineering project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, budgets, schedules, contractors, and competing priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of facility systems, infrastructure, utility operations, maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with customers, team members, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and remain accountable for results.
  • Ability to work on-site in an active automotive manufacturing environment and respond to operational priorities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective operation and maintenance of building systems, infrastructure, utilities, and facility services.

The FAM is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of buildings, infrastructure, utilities, facility services, and related support systems.
