Job summary

Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts is seeking an entry-level Building Supervisor to supervise building services and ensure a safe, clean environment for staff, tenants and patrons during scheduled hours. This part-time role requires working two of three shifts: Saturdays 8am-4pm, Sundays 10am-6pm, and Mondays 3pm-10pm, averaging 16–24 hours weekly.

Rate of pay is $22.75/hour. Responsibilities include safety, event setup, and coordination with staff and contractors to maintain the facility

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety and security of the facility during events and in public areas.
• Open and close the facility at the start/end of shifts.
• Perform daily housekeeping and light custodial duties.
• Remove snow and ice from entrances and walkways.
• Receive deliveries and move supplies as needed.
• Set up and tear down furniture and event equipment.
• Coordinate with concierge/security staff, contractors and cleaners.
• Participate in safety training including drills and WHMIS.
• Coordinate with tradespeople for after-hours maintenance when required.
• Record and email a daily activity log.
• Report supply needs and hazards to the Building Operations Manager.
• Maintain equipment and report damages.
• Communicate with Patron Services during performances.
• Monitor building systems (temperature, lighting, plumbing) and report issues.
• Respond to staff and public requests promptly.
