The Role

We are currently seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Worker (Level 2) to join our team. This position is the second level of a two-level maintenance team and supports the overall upkeep, cleanliness, and functionality of RAN’s facilities and properties.This role focuses on general maintenance, custodial work, and assistance with light repairs and projects. It is distinguished from the Level 1 position by a reduced focus on specialized trades work (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, and electrical) and greater emphasis on supporting day-to-day facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
  • Assist with basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry tasks, excluding major trades work.
  • Support minor repairs such as patching, painting, and hardware replacements.
  • Maintain clean and presentable facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff, residents, and visitors. May include custodial duties and seasonal weather related tasks.
  • Track and replenish supplies for maintenance and custodial work.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and complete minor repairs.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of events and meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to uphold the Mission’s standards and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Experience in general facility maintenance, building repairs or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • A team-oriented and proactive approach.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions and respond to emergency situations.
  • First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager - work is conducted across all Ruth and Naomi's facilities in Chilliwack BC. Hours for this role are currently Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm but are subject to change.
