Job description

What will be your daily pursuit?: At one of Canada's most iconic destinations, the Columbia Icefield, we're looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead essential site operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for keeping infrastructure, systems, and guest spaces running smoothly — from water systems and electrical to grounds and fleet maintenance — ensuring guests have a safe, seamless, and unforgettable experience.

You'll lead a small on-site team, coordinate with outside vendors, and be a key part of our leadership group at this remote lodge location.

What will your compensation be?: The starting salary for this role is $70,000 annually. Comprehensive benefits package with an employee benefits card. 5% RRSP matching. Competitive taxable benefit per day, housing, and meals (based on single occupancy).

What will you do in this job?:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and good condition of all buildings (Discovery Centre, Glacier Skywalk, and Employee Camp).
  2. Ensure overall safety of facilities for guests and staff.
  3. Develop and follow a preventative maintenance program with checklists.
  4. Maintain positive relationships with partners, including Parks Canada and suppliers.
  5. Participate actively in the management team of the Columbia Icefield.
  6. Manage regular maintenance, annual start-up and shut-down of facilities.
  7. Suggest capital improvements to enhance efficiency and guest experience.
  8. Motivate maintenance team and ensure facilities are clean and organized.
  9. Manage contractors and lead 3+ departments with effective delegation.
  10. Achieve revenue targets and manage expenses; develop budgets and forecast expenses.
  11. Hire, train, and onboard staff; develop training materials.
  12. Hold staff accountable, foster engagement, and ensure professional communication.
  13. Maintain inventory and ensure cleanliness and organization.
  14. Provide on-the-floor leadership and role model standards.
  15. Ensure effective use of leadership assets and uphold appearance standards.
  16. Participate in team activities and be on call one night per week.
  17. Support opening/closing of staff accommodation and perform related duties.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?:

  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Power engineer or trade certification is an asset.
  • Experience in plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, heating, electrical systems.
  • Hands-on management style.
  • Relationship building and performance management skills.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with less than 5 demerit points.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are assets.
