Full Job Description

What will be your daily pursuit?: At one of Canada's most iconic destinations, the Columbia Icefield, we're looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead essential site operations. You will be responsible for maintaining infrastructure, systems, and guest spaces, including water, electrical, grounds, and fleet maintenance, to ensure a safe and seamless guest experience.

You will lead a small on-site team, coordinate with outside vendors, and be a key part of our leadership team at this remote lodge location.

Compensation
  • Starting salary: $70,000 annually

Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of all buildings (Discovery Centre, Glacier Skywalk, Employee Camp)
  • Ensure safety of facilities for guests and staff
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs with checklists and follow-up
  • Maintain positive relationships with key partners and vendors
  • Participate actively as a member of the management team
  • Perform regular maintenance and annual startup/shutdown of facilities
  • Suggest capital improvements to enhance efficiency and environmental stewardship
  • Motivate and manage the maintenance team, ensuring cleanliness and organization
  • Manage contractors and oversee leadership of multiple departments
  • Achieve revenue targets and manage expenses
  • Develop budgets and forecast expenses
  • Hire, train, and onboard staff; develop training materials
  • Hold staff accountable and promote staff engagement
  • Manage inventory and ensure professional communication
  • Uphold uniform and appearance standards
  • Participate in team activities and be on call as needed
  • Support team cohesion and assist with opening/closing tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Power engineer or trade certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, boilers, heating, electrical systems
  • Hands-on management style
  • Relationship building skills
  • Experience in hiring and performance management
  • Excellent conflict management skills
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with less than 5 demerit points
  • Fluent in English; secondary language skills are an asset
