Our client, a major oil and gas producer, is seeking a Facilities Engineer for their field office in Fort McMurray, AB. This contract role follows a 4/3 schedule, with flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary, or shuttle services for local candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate regularly with your Business Unit Team to identify engineering support needs.
- Monitor project statuses within your value stream; collaborate with the Small Projects Coordinator to prioritize Engineering Work Orders.
- Work with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering during project scoping to ensure clear scope justifications for Engineering Work Orders.
- Obtain approval for Authorization for Expenditures (AFE).
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and third-party engineering firms to create error-free Construction Work Packages (CWP).
- Review engineering deliverables with Maintenance and Construction Coordinators to ensure practicality and constructibility.
- Ensure risk assessments and change management processes are completed for each project.
- Manage schedules and budgets for sustaining capital projects.
- Support procurement and construction phases of sustaining capital projects.
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans for your area.
- Ensure proper project close-out upon completion.
Qualifications:
- Preferred engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, or Metallurgical disciplines.
- Technologist degree with piping design experience considered.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Alberta with APEGA.
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMI) is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience; 5-10 years in operational oil and gas facilities with PE designation preferred.
- Experience working directly with Operations and Maintenance personnel is essential.
- Experience managing small to mid-sized capital projects is advantageous.
- Knowledge of WCB and Alberta OH&S regulations.
