Saturn has an opportunity for a full time Facilities Emissions Engineer based in the Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Facilities Team Lead, the Facilities Emissions Engineer will be responsible for designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining oil and gas facilities according to regulatory and industry standards. The incumbent will be expected to manage and execute facilities projects following applicable regulatory legislation, CSA standards, and industry codes of practice.

Some specific duties, and responsibilities of the Facilities Emissions Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Calculate Saturn’s corporate emissions penalties and complete OGEMR, OBPS, and TIER emissions reports
  • Propose economic projects to reduce Saturn’s corporate emissions penalties and earn carbon credits where available
  • Complete project estimates and raise AFEs
  • Execute approved emissions reduction projects
  • Evaluate available emissions reduction technologies and vendor programs
  • Regularly review available government funding for emissions reduction projects
  • Work with measurement and production accounting groups to ensure emissions are being correct reported in Petrinex, and update measurement schematics as required
  • Complete and upload GHG and NPRI reports to SWIM
  • Ensure MSAPR compliance for 2026 and complete schedule 9 & 10 reports
  • Submit Directive 60 annual methane reporting each year
  • Travel to various field locations as necessary

Other duties may include:

  • Day-to-day facilities engineering and operational support
  • Ensure technical compliance of designs as well as adherence to sound engineering practices, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Complete engineering calculations and process simulations
  • Identify and review opportunities for optimization in cost and safety

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 5-10 years of facility engineering experience in the oil and gas industry
  • In-depth knowledge of Saskatchewan’s OBPS regulation and OGEMR, as well as Alberta’s TIER regulation and AER’s directive 60
  • Previous experience completing emissions reporting in Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • Exceptional project management skills including scope development, execution, cost control, and safety
  • Well-rounded and extensive knowledge of oil & gas production operations
  • Experience with CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, AER and MER directives
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively, prioritize activities, and work in a team-based environment to achieve desired results
  • Excellent computer and analytical ability, combined with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Process engineering experience is an asset.
