Your opportunity :
Under the general direction of the Director, Space Planning & Management, the Facilities Designer is responsible for participating in planning, organizing and managing projects that are identified as OISE priorities. The incumbent will formulate plans and designs which are practical, aesthetic and conducive to achieving the function and purpose objectives of the project. They will work collaboratively with the team to provide interior space layouts and furnishing plans following priorities set and adhering to established deadlines; investigate various sources of information as required, by reviewing departmental academic plans, the existing use of space and meeting with individuals and groups within the division; prepare analyses, including assessments of the use of various types of space; and determine the physical resources available and what is required to accommodate the existing and planned functions of the division.
The incumbent will also prepare CAD documents for planning, design, construction, incorporate AV documents, specifications for tender, and for implementation of projects; write reports and prepares technical appendices, specifications, schedules, inspections and supporting information; obtain on site measurements, record information and translate into CAD base documents for use in project planning; prepare concept drawings or functional layouts and outlines space program requirements and provides a scope of work for the purpose of preparing project cost estimates; evaluate tenders and quotes, negotiate contracts, and prepare and monitor project cost estimates; and manage and coordinate construction project with Project and Property Management, Architects, Engineers, and all related consultants.
