Job description

Do you have experience cleaning and maintaining office buildings? Are you an independent decision maker who is organized and a self-starter?

If so, we want you on our Maintenance Team!

As the successful candidate as Facilities Custodian (Relief), you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Administration Office of the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

You Will Assist With

  • The development of a rotating maintenance schedule.
  • Maintenance and custodial duties on a daily basis according to a rotating schedule. The position is accountable for ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Scheduling and completing work to minimize disruption to staff.
  • Inspecting the building to identify and complete minor repairs, installations, and maintenance. Scheduling contracted services to complete repairs to desks and other furniture, drywall and paint repairs, replacing burned out interior and exterior lighting, and minor door hardware, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues.
  • Completing minor building modifications such as mounting whiteboards, corkboards, or other items, securing furniture or other items to walls, and moving office furniture, equipment, and files.
  • Recommending maintenance and repair options.
  • Researching, recommending, ordering, and picking up supplies.
  • Being available for emergency callouts to resolve issues such as water line breaks, responding to security alarms, and coordinating with security companies.
  • Routine testing, inspection, and confirmation of proper functioning of building systems such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, and exterior lighting.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must have completed grade 12 (or equivalent) and a minimum of one year of related experience, preferably in an office environment. You should be comfortable working primarily alone while maintaining professional communication skills.

This is a relief position scheduled strictly on an on-call, as-needed basis. The position pays $29.07 per hour.
