Job summary

MaKami College is seeking a casual janitor to maintain cleanliness across Edmonton campuses. You will perform routine cleaning, sanitizing, and ensure safe and orderly facilities. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently are important.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of cleaning products, WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain, and the ability to work well in a team. Free parking and opportunities for professional development are available.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and sanitize ceilings, surfaces, counters, furniture, and fixtures.
• Sweep, scrub, and mop floors (laminate and tile).
• Vacuum carpets and use cleaning equipment; shampooing or stain removal as needed.
• Empty garbage and recycling from bins and containers.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms (sinks, basins, toilets, mirrors).
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors.
• Maintain clean and presentable public and common areas.
• Store and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely.
• Report maintenance issues, repairs, or supply shortages promptly.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and sanitize ceiling vents, surfaces, counters, furniture, and fixtures
• Sweep, scrub, and mop laminate and tiled floors
• Vacuum carpets and use cleaning equipment as required, including shampooing or stain removal when necessary

• Clean and sanitize washrooms, including sinks, basins, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures (public and private)
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors
• Ensure all public and common areas are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times
• Maintain, clean, and properly store cleaning equipment and supplies
• Ensure safe, sanitary, and compliant storage and use of cleaning products
• Report maintenance issues, repairs, or supply shortages promptly

Education & Experience

• General knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and cleaning techniques
• WHMIS certification or willingness to obtain
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Strong time-management skills with ability to adapt to changing priorities

• Standing and walking for extended periods
