Job description

We are currently seeking a Facilities and Estates Operative to join our team in Halifax. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, landscaping, and general property upkeep. You’ll provide essential services including window cleaning, minor repairs, waste removal, and environmental inspections across multiple sites.

Outline of key responsibilities for the Facilities and Estates Operative:

  • Work within different teams on all aspects of cleaning and waste management.
  • Carry out routine cleaning of all internal and external communal areas, ensuring these areas are left clean, safe and attractive for our customers; using a combination of hand tools, power tools, and chemical agents when required.
  • Assist in the removal of graffiti and fly-tipped waste on the organisation's land when required.
  • Undertake a range of minor repairs to communal properties, gardens, and the wider estate including planned deep cleaning. Ensure that access footpaths are kept free from hazards and/or obstructions.
  • Be adaptable and flexible, responsible for working in service areas across the team as required, including cleaning, waste & house removals, and general duties associated with estate management.
  • Promptly and effectively handle on-site customer inquiries while communicating clearly and efficiently at all levels.
  • Plan and organise workload to meet deadlines in line with the departmental service plans.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A full manual UK driving license
  • Practical experience of working in a Cleaning & Caretaking service
  • Practical knowledge of and ability to operate Cleaning and Waste equipment and machinery
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy to enable accurate record keeping
  • Excellent customer service skills

In return we are offering the successful candidate in the Facilities and Estates Operative role:

  • Starting salary of £24,243
  • Annual pay scale increase
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays

  • You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm or 7am-3pm
