Term / Status: Temporary, anticipated 70 hours biweekly for 6 months

Classification / Salary: Social Program Officer (Growth to R24) / Position starts at $39.30 to $41.65 hourly

Team: North West Coast

Location: Parksville or Courtenay (hybrid with 3 days required in the Parksville office after passing a 6-month probation)

About the opportunity:

As a Facilitator at CLBC, you will represent CLBC as the primary contact for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This includes:

  • Supporting and facilitating access to generic services, informal supports, and CLBC-funded services, including allocation of small targeted amounts of funding
  • Assisting individuals and their families in identifying activities and resources to reach their goals, exploring their capacity, and enhancing their ability to make informed decisions
  • Providing information about informal community supports, generic services, CLBC services, peer, and family support services available
  • Collaborating with other service providers to respond to crisis situations and resolve problems
  • Coordinating services
  • Creating and implementing individual support plans, including informal and formal safeguards
  • Helping individuals and families connect to their community, building on their strengths and assets
  • Confirming eligibility for CLBC-funded services

What you will bring:

  • Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent degree
  • Experience working in the Community Living field with children, youth, or adults with developmental disabilities and their families
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered

Additional Info:

  • Some travel required in the surrounding areas (South of Parksville to Nanoose; West to Errington / Coombs; the surrounding areas of Courtenay within the Comox Valley Regional District), as well as occasional travel to Courtenay and Nanaimo for in-person meetings.
  • Possession of a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract are required.
  • Successful applicants are subject to a Criminal Record Check.
  • An eligibility list for internal candidates may be established.
