We are seeking a Face Shovel Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Face Shovel Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating a 600-ton face shovel.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the 600-ton face shovel in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
- Wearpersonal protective equipment in designed areas.
- Perform Field Level Risk Assessments.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping as well as refilling all fluids as required.
- Conductpre-operational checks of the shovel.
- Perform a walk-around inspection before, during, and after every shift.
- Complete logbooks and daily reports on delays, productions, and safety issues.
- Use two-way-radio, and horn signals to communicate with other operators and ensure safety.
- Troubleshoot in accordance with regulations and approved procedures, may perform minor repairs as required and report all issues to dispatch.
- Safely operate and maneuver the shovel.
- Use the face shovel according to operating practices to excavate materials such as overburden and blasted rock.
- Use the face shovel according to operating practices to load 240-ton haul trucks safely and efficiently.
- Monitor gauges, and other indicators to ensure the shovel is working properly, report discrepancies to dispatch.
Required Experience and Skill Set
- 5+ years of experience operating face shovels at a mine site.
- Double side loading experience is an asset.

Certifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Heavy Equipment Operator training or related experience required.
