Job summary

Randstad Canada in Barrie, Ontario is seeking Plate Fabricators/ Fitters to join our production team. This role offers a day shift with 6:00am–4:30pm windows, a competitive hourly rate of 33–37 CAD, and safety‑first shop culture.

Benefits begin after 3 months, with pension matching after 1 year and a 4‑day work week. You will interpret drawings, fit and assemble components, inspect tolerances, and operate cranes and related equipment in a robust fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• Overhead crane certification required or ability to obtain.
• Forklift certification is an asset.
• CWB welding tickets are an asset.
• 5-7 years of experience in plate fitting or structural steel fabrication.
• Trade certification or apprenticeship in fabrication, welding or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Fitting & Assembly: layout, cut, shape, align, clamp, and tack-weld components from drawings.
• Quality & Dimensional Accuracy: inspect fit-ups to meet tolerances and minimize rework.
• Material & Equipment Operation: safely operate torches, grinders, presses and overhead cranes.
• Safety & Workplace Standards: follow OH&S guidelines and maintain 5S cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Fitting & Assembly: Interpret technical drawings to layout, cut, shape, align, clamp, and tack-weld components (plates, structural parts, subassemblies).
• Quality & Dimensional Accuracy: Inspect fit-ups against dimensional tolerances to eliminate non-conformances and minimize rework.
• Material & Equipment Operation: Safely operate tools (torches, grinders, presses) and material handling equipment (overhead cranes) to prepare and position materials.
• Safety & Workplace Standards: Follow OH&S guidelines, utilize required PPE, maintain continuous hazard awareness, and uphold 5S workplace cleanliness.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in plate fitting, structural steel fabrication,
