Fabricator – Commercial Aluminum & Glass Systems

Position Summary:

The Fabricator – Commercial Aluminum & Glass reports to the Shop Foreman and Commercial Manager and plays a critical role in the successful execution of aluminum window and door projects. The Fabricator is responsible for precision fabrication, assembly, and quality control of project components, ensuring they meet project specifications and Northerm’s standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:


• Read and interpret shop drawings, project plans, and technical specifications for aluminum windows, doors, and curtainwall components.
• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and caulk aluminum units in accordance with specifications.
• Operate saws, drill presses, milling machines, routers, copy routers, and other tools and equipment to prepare and assemble materials.
• Conduct quality checks of raw materials and finished products, reporting any non-conformance.
• Stage, label, and package completed units for delivery or installation.
• Assist with on-site product delivery and loading/unloading of fabricated items.
• Maintain inventory control by monitoring usage and coordinating supply needs with supervisors.
• Accurately complete fabrication records, QA checklists, and job sheets.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and contributing to production planning.
• Adhere to company safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Participate in team meetings and assist with the development of new fabrication methods or tooling.
• Temporarily fill in for the Shop Foreman and support process hand-offs from estimating to installation.


Requirements:


• Previous experience in aluminum fabrication or metalworking, preferably within a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical specifications with a high level of accuracy.
• Skilled in the safe operation of industrial fabrication equipment and tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in measurements, assembly, and quality control.
• Familiarity with inventory tracking and basic production documentation.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials, stand for long periods, and work in variable indoor conditions.
• Commitment to safety procedures, housekeeping, and professional conduct.
• Valid Driver’s License.
