What You’ll Do

Responsibilities

  • Engaged in supporting MPS initiatives (i.e., Safety, SMED, Continuous Improvement, 6S, etc.)

  • Lead by example to ensure Metrie’s core value is met; P.R.I.C.E (Passion, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence)

  • Responsible for all fabrication projects for the facility

  • Responsible for the timely completion of tasks and projects in conjunction with the expectation set forth by shift supervision / management

  • Work collaboratively with production associates, cross functional team members and management to complete projects effectively

  • Ensure projects continuously meet the requirements of IFOTIS (In full, On Time, In Spec)

  • Ability to design drawings / sketches prior to major work projects

  • Follow written and verbal instruction with no variances to project or task upon completion

  • Adhere to all of Metrie’s policies, procedure, and safety requirements

  • Display flexibility to work in other departments and overtime as necessary to achieve project deadlines and company production goals

  • Responsible for quoting of materials, parts, and outsourcing of fabrication projects

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervision/management

Safety Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply all safety policies & regulations (5 Steps to a Safe Day)

  • Trained and competent in Job Hazards (JH) as per the Job Hazard Assessment (JHA)

  • Follow all lockout procedures mandatory within the department

  • Full knowledge of machine operating procedures as per SOP’s and hazard assessments

Qualifications

Education:

  • Secondary / Post secondary school

  • Certification in Welding or Machining is a nice to have

Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in fabrication (Machinery, Parts, etc.)

Specific Skills / Trade or Knowledge:

  • Strong organizational and communicative skills

  • Strong knowledge of production equipment and best practices

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or design drawings, work instructions, dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements to complete the job task according to specifications

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent: Walking, Forward Bending

  • Occasional: Kneeling, Overhead Lifting, Squatting

  • Constant: Standing

  • Lifting: Floor to waist, waist to floor

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: Frequent when relocating projects

  • Hand to eye coordination and dexterity: Picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and repetitive rotation
