Job summary

PwC Canada in Winnipeg is seeking an External Audit Senior Associate to join client-facing teams and drive meaningful audit outcomes. You will help develop the audit approach, plan procedures, and support the engagement team while ensuring high-quality service to clients ranging from growth-stage to large entities.

You’ll coach junior staff, test internal controls, assess estimates, and verify financial statements to support the audit report.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience at the Senior Associate level with external audit clients.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian auditing standards; US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team environments.

• Take on a professional role as part of our client-facing teams
• Support the development of the audit approach and complete planning procedures
• Provide coaching and feedback to junior members of the engagement team
• Examine financial and accounting records, other documents, and tangible items such as inventory, or plant and equipment, or watch certain processes and procedures being performed
• Ask a range of questions – from formal written questions to informal oral questions – with a range of individuals at our client organizations
• Test the client organization's internal controls
• Assess significant estimates, judgements or assumptions made by management
• Verify and test financial statements and supporting disclosures
• Perform completion procedures to support issuance of the audit report

What You’ll Bring

Your skills, knowledge, and experiences are what set you apart. Here's what we look for:

• Demonstrated progressive experience at the Senior Associate level working with a range of external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation
• Excellent understanding of Canadian auditing standards. Knowledge of United States auditing standards and/or PCAOB is also considered
• Knowledge of IFRS and/or ASPE, US GAAP is considered an asset
• Thorough technical skills and experience regarding applicable accounting reporting and auditing standards
• Experience in the design of engagement procedures based on risk and materiality
• Previous experience in coaching and leading engagement teams
• Project management experience
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills that allow you to thrive in a team environment

The salary range for this position is $52,200 - $87,000. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for PwC locations in major city centres. Given our national recruiting approach, ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At PwC Canada, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may have opportunities to participate in variable incentive pay programs which are designed to reward individual and firm-wide achievements.
