Exciting News:

Island Health is offering a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Training Program. The program starts on May 06, 2024, and runs until approximately October 04, 2024. It combines online curriculum through VIU with clinical practicum at Island Health sites.

What You Need to Know:

1. Are you an Island Health employee under the Facilities Bargaining Agreement (FBA) seeking to advance your career?
2. We are pleased to offer an employer-sponsored education program to join our Medical Device Reprocessing team.
3. This full-time program is employer-paid, covering tuition, fees, and necessary books. Participants will also receive a weekly stipend.
4. Open to all existing Island Health FBA employees.
5. Our Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians work closely with RNs and support staff to ensure instruments and equipment are ready for use.
6. Our perioperative units are state-of-the-art, providing comprehensive services across Vancouver Island, with the Operating Room and Endoscopy departments being our largest clients.
7. Participants must complete a six-month return of service (ROS) working as an MDRT at Island Health.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

Grade 12 (or acceptable equivalent); Grade 12 English with C or better or assessment by VIU; Completion of Medical Terminology (OSME002) or equivalent.
