Job description

Canadian Blood Services is seeking passionate and engaged Indigenous individuals to join our Indigenous Council. This council plays a vital role in guiding our efforts to strengthen relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, ensuring that our programs and services are inclusive, culturally appropriate, and responsive to Indigenous perspectives.

About the Council

The Indigenous Council’s work began in September 2023, and its mandate includes providing advice and making recommendations to the Canadian Blood Services Executive Management Team on implementing the organization-wide Reconciliation Action Plan in four key areas : Acknowledgement & sharing, Learning & Education, Strategies & Planning, Engagement & Participation.

Who Should Apply?

We are looking for individuals who :

  • Have a strong connection to Indigenous communities and cultures
  • Are passionate about health equity and Indigenous representation in public institutions
  • Have experience in advocacy, community engagement, governance, or health

Time Commitment & Honorarium

Council members will meet quarterly (with one in-person meeting) and may be asked to participate in additional engagements as needed. An honorarium will be provided to recognize members’ time and contributions. This position can be based anywhere in Canada. Travel and accommodation required for the annual in-person meeting will be covered in addition to the honorarium.
