The Opportunity:

Position: Civil Design Engineer

Location: Calgary, within the Land Development & Municipal Engineering (LDME) team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including site servicing, subdivisions, municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, and industrial sites. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with project managers, technical engineers, junior staff, and CAD technicians.

What you can expect to do here:

• Design land development and municipal infrastructure projects
• Prepare analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports
• Provide technical advisory services
• Mentor junior staff
• Support field staff during contract administration and field reviews
• Participate actively in the design process
• Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies
• Assist in preparing RFPs, bids, and proposals
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• Minimum of 10+ years of municipal infrastructure or land development experience
• Degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), P.L. Eng., or P. Tech designation in Alberta
• Knowledge of local standards, guidelines, and environmental standards
• Robust design experience in municipal/private projects
• Experience with sewer, watermain, and road design
• Familiarity with local planning and approval processes
• Experience working with Alberta municipalities and First Nations is an asset
