PurposeTo process, compile and interpret a significant amount of geologic information being generated by the Borden exploration efforts. Work with contractors and work effectively and efficiently within the geology team and with other departments.
Responsibilities
- Core Logging and QA/QC Implementation: Conduct detailed geological logging of diamond drill core across multiple exploration sites. Responsible for the selection of core samples and the ongoing implementation and monitoring of QA/QC protocols to ensure data integrity.
- Exploration Target Generation: Develop and refine exploration concepts and geological models to identify and prioritize new target areas, integrating geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets.
- Sample Collection Oversight: Monitor all aspects of sample collection, storage, and shipment performed by field technicians, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and maintaining chain-of-custody documentation.
- Drilling Oversight and Safety Compliance: Monitor daily drilling progress on active programs. Conduct regular drill rig visits to ensure compliance with the Company’s safety and environmental protocols.
- Data Compilation and Interpretation: Utilize industry-standard geological software to compile, visualize, and interpret 3D spatial, geological, and assay data. Ensure timely and accurate plotting of results to support exploration decisions.
- Targeting and Drill Planning: Contribute to exploration target selection and drill program design. Prepare drill hole layouts and provide clear guidance to drill crews to ensure accurate collar positioning and orientation.
- Occasional surface mapping & sampling projects
Training and Education
- Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain Professional Geologist designation.
- >2 years of experience in gold exploration is preferred
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Innovative and a proven ability to work with others.
- Working knowledge of the MS Office, and experience in industry-standard digital logging software is an asset.
- Experience with geological software an asset.
- Ability to communicate clearly & confidently, on a timely basis.
- Industry-standard training in First-Aid, WHMIS is an asset.
