Job Summary:

The Exploration Camp Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and logistical management of a remote mineral exploration camp supporting the Antino Gold Project in southeastern Suriname. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all camp activities—from accommodation and catering to supply chain logistics and safety protocols—are conducted efficiently and in full compliance with local regulations and international exploration standards.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience managing camp infrastructure in remote, tropical environments, and is comfortable supporting field teams in dynamic and challenging conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Camp & Logistics Management

  • Oversee and coordinate all daily operations of the exploration camp, including power, water, sanitation, catering, and communications.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and functional living and working environment for all camp residents and field personnel.
  • Manage in-country logistics including procurement, supply shipments (via road, river, or air), fuel delivery, and inventory control.

Team Supervision & Support

  • Supervise a multidisciplinary camp staff, including local hires, cooks, drivers, maintenance workers, and security personnel.
  • Lead hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of camp staff.
  • Build positive working relationships with local communities and service providers.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance

  • Enforce and promote HSE best practices in accordance with Surinamese regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain safety records, conduct regular inspections, and ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate medical evacuation and emergency response procedures in collaboration with field teams and management.

Reporting & Communication

  • Liaise daily with exploration team leaders and head office to ensure alignment of camp operations with exploration goals.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on camp operations, inventory, safety, staffing, and general performance metrics.
  • Maintain reliable communication systems (e.g., satellite phones, radios, internet) for field and base communication.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in remote camp or site management, ideally in a mineral exploration or mining setting.
  • Familiarity with working in tropical, jungle environments, preferably within South America or similar regions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of logistics and supply chain coordination in remote areas.
  • Experience managing diverse teams, including local and international personnel.
  • First Aid, HSE, and remote emergency training (certifications preferred).
  • Proficiency in English required; working knowledge of Dutch, Sranan Tongo and/or Portuguese is an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Camp-based position in a remote jungle location with limited access to urban centers.
  • Rotation schedule with on-site accommodation and meals provided. FIFO, 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
  • Must be comfortable living and working in a humid, tropical climate with limited connectivity.
