The TLC group at ETH Zürich invites applications for a PhD position focused on the synthesis of novel polymers. The research will explore advanced methodologies in macromolecular synthesis, nano-structure control, and the development of materials for real-world applications, including organic electronics.
Requirements
– M.Sc. degree or equivalent in chemistry or a related field
– Strong background in synthetic chemistry
– High motivation, enthusiasm for research, and a strong problem-solving mindset
– Proficiency in oral and written English
– Ability to work collaboratively in an open, diverse, and interdisciplinary team
Project Overview
– Development of new methods for the preparation of organic and polymer materials, with an emphasis on selective bond formation in both small and macromolecules
– Investigation of catalysis and metal-mediated reactions, including tandem catalysis for the efficient synthesis of complex macromolecules
– Application of state-of-the-art self-assembly techniques and living polymerization to control nano-structures
– Synthesis of conjugated polymers for use in organic electronics, such as OTFTs, organic memory, and solar cell devices
