About the Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Experiential Education, the Experiential Education Coordinator identifies, cultivates and maintains relationships with community partners, with the objective of sourcing experiential education (EE) opportunities that support the goals and curriculum of an assigned Faculty and related transdisciplinary work. The incumbent is further responsible for collaborating with and supporting the assigned Faculty with EE planning, design, implementation and evaluation, and for achieving synergies and creating/sharing best practices with peers across campus. This role also supports communication and marketing efforts that promote the activities and successes of EE.

The Experiential Education Coordinator will:

  • Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners to provide appropriate EE opportunities across the Faculty;
  • Provide nuanced messaging to demonstrate the value of EE for the community partner and student and to ask for support in providing an EE opportunity;
  • Meet with community partners, both internal and external, to determine expectations for EE;
  • Act as an ambassador for Brock and the Faculty at community functions, events and when working with community partners, to build relationships and respond to issues pertaining to EE;
  • Work with peers in the department to ensure a cohesive approach to partnership development and management, including streamlined and efficient communication processes;
  • Create and maintain a database of EE opportunities at local, national and international levels;
  • Assist in the development of short and long-term plans for the Faculty, related to experiential education;
  • Collaborate with appropriate Department Chair(s), Department Curriculum Committee(s) and faculty responsible for courses to revise the Faculty’s teaching strategies and course organization on an annual basis, by recommending the most suitable types of EE in order to provide students with appropriate experiential education opportunities;
  • In close collaboration with the Office of the Dean, design and develop critical path planning for existing courses/programs within the Faculty;
  • Assist in the design, facilitation and completion of appropriate assessment and evaluation processes to monitor and evaluate community relationships and student experiences;
  • Develop synergies between EE activities throughout the University;
  • Assist in integrating workflows and activities related to EE activities across campus, leading specific initiatives, as assigned;
  • Support communications staff in the Faculty and across the University to deliver messaging about the activities and successes of EE.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
  • Relevant professional experience, including work in the field of experiential education, sales and/or relationship management;
  • Superior knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of experiential learning;
  • Strong understanding of the pedagogy and practice of experiential education, including learning outcomes and assessment;
  • Proven ability to build long-term relationships in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Knowledge of the educational process and courses/programs offered at Brock and within the Faculty of Social Sciences;
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of local community organizations, public agencies and the private sector. National and international knowledge an asset;
  • High level of professionalism when working with community partners;
  • Advanced communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and professional public speaking/presentation ability;
  • Ability to work well independently and as a contributing member of a team that shares best practices and collaborates to find efficiencies and synergies;
  • Strong judgement, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess a situation and take appropriate action;
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, and adaptable.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of University/public sector governance, policies, procedures and culture.

Salary and Total Rewards:

  • Job Grade [L], Salary Scale ($66,817 – $108,353);
  • Target Hiring Range: $66,817 - $68,000 *
  • This is a permanent position that includes:
  • Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan.
  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.

* The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
