Overview

EXPERIENCED ROOFER – Nanaimo, BC. Full-time or part-time Seasonal. Hourly: $19 - $35.

Do you enjoy fixing up houses and helping people in your community? Certified and experienced roofers are needed all year round, especially during the rainy season when leaks are common. You will work on residential and commercial buildings and become familiar with installation methods for a certified Duro-Last roofing system. The ideal candidate is interested in completing the apprenticeship program and has a long-term opportunity for growth. As a roofer, you will work as part of a spirited team that gets the job done and knows when to have fun.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections to pinpoint roofing issues and establish the best methods of repair.
• Set up necessary equipment and scaffolding and clear vegetation, debris, and obstacles in preparation of roofing projects.
• Familiarity with roofing systems and types of material necessary for roofing projects.
• Install insulation and waterproof materials according to best practices for each project’s roofing system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years’ experience in the roofing field.
• Certification in roofing or relevant construction experience.
• At least 18 years old; valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
• Physically fit with the ability to lift and carry loads up to 60-70 pounds and work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Knowledge of roofing procedures, materials, and tools; ability to work safely at heights.
• Fall Protection certification and WHMIS certification required before hire (online options available); Basic First Aid encouraged.
• Interest in completing the Apprenticeship program and long-term opportunities.

Work location and schedule

Regular day shifts with some evening and weekend work, and on-call requirements. Frequent local travel to construction locations with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Occasional out-of-town and out-of-province work may be required.
