A drywaller/painter finisher is responsible for installing drywall and other materials to create interior walls and ceilings in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They must be skilled in measuring, cutting, and fitting drywall to create smooth, seamless surfaces that are ready for painting or other finishing work. Mud, taping, and painting are also included with this position. Other construction skills are deemed to be an asset.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Measure and cut drywall to fit specific areas of a building.
• Install drywall panels onto wall studs or ceiling joists using screws or nails.
• Finish joints between panels using joint compound and tape to create a seamless surface.
• Apply texture to walls and ceilings using spray guns or other tools.
• Mud and tape installed drywall, and sand to finish it.
• Repair and replace damaged drywall.
• Use specialized tools such as laser levels, power saws, and sanders to achieve precision cuts and finishes.
• Follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Experience:

• Must be able to produce a professional drywall finish in a timely manner.
• Five years or more of experience in drywall installation and finishing preferred.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials, as well as stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time.
