Job summary

Structural Truss Systems in Fort MacLeod, AB, is seeking a Designer/Draftsperson for our permanent, full-time team. You will design and draft prefabricated wall panels, read architectural specs, and collaborate with engineers and contractors to meet customer requirements.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you’ll support manufacturing, attend training, and contribute to project success with strong organizational skills and customer-facing communication.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary Design/Drafting program or Carpentry experience.
• At least 5 years in construction/manufacturing design work.
• Experience designing/drafting prefabricated wall panels.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural specifications.
• Strong communication with customer-facing experience.
• Excellent prioritization and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Design 3D models to create technical drawings for clients and contractors.
• Create schematics using computer-aided design software.
• Communicate with engineers, architects, and contractors on project details.
• Design prefabricated wall panels per customer requirements and engineered specs.
• Support manufacturing teams and participate in training programs.
• Perform other design/administrative duties as assigned by the Design Manager.

Company: Structural Truss Systems

Structural Truss Systems specializes in the design, manufacturing, and transportation of custom roof trusses, floor systems, and wall panels for every size of residential, commercial, and agricultural projects. We operate out of over 90,000 square feet of manufacturing facility in Fort MacLeod, AB, just 25 minutes west of Lethbridge, AB.

We are currently looking to hire a Designer/Draftsperson for our Fort MacLeod facility.

Reporting to the Design Manager, this position will support the Truss Manufacturing teams and will be involved in multiple aspects of designing prefabricated wall systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings, as well as other structures.

Job Type: Permanent, Full time

Core Responsibilities:

• Utilize supplied software’s Design 3D models to create technical drawings for clients and contractors.
• Create schematics through computer-aided design software.
• Communicate with engineers, architects, and contractors regarding project details prior to and during construction phase.
• Design prefabricated wall panels according to customer requirements, blueprints, and engineered specifications.
• Serve customers in an efficient, team building and problem solving manner;
• Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required;
• Perform any other Administrative/Design duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned by the Design Manager.

What We’re Looking For:
