ERG Civil Engineer Job Description

ERG is a research and consulting firm providing support to federal, state, and commercial clients. We assemble multidisciplinary teams with expertise in engineering, science, economics, public health, IT, and communications. We seek motivated individuals with strong skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for an experienced civil engineer to develop civil designs for renovations and upgrades at a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland. This role involves interaction with ERG personnel on-site and from our offices in Fairfax and Arlington. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Develop requirements and review design packages; occasionally perform design work.
  2. Prepare design packages, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for projects like roof replacements, building reconfigurations, additions, or utility upgrades.
  3. Conduct technical reviews of designs to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and user needs.
  4. Contribute technical input to proposal development for renovation projects.
  5. Support the design process from concept to completion.
  6. Draft technical memoranda and reports summarizing requirements or design basis.
  7. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Serve as project or design manager on selected projects.
  9. Prepare analysis reports and observations on facilities and components.
  10. Assist in modernizing facilities in compliance with applicable codes.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience; 10+ preferred.
  • PE license is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in facility design and review for code compliance and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with facility design, permitting, and operational system evaluation.
  • Experience designing lab infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of civil/environmental compliance, IBC, UFC, NFPA, ANSI, ASCE standards.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
