We are currently seeking a safety-conscious Experienced Base Foreman to work in a full-time capacity, in various locations throughout Edmonton. The successful candidate must be able toalign with the company’s core purpose and core values. Responsibilities
The Base Foreman's responsibilities are as follows :
- Lead and supervise base crews;
- Encourage strong safety culture and lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment and during the operation of company vehicles and equipment (including the physical and psychological safety of crews);
- Operating variety of base equipment (such as grader, roller & skid steer) and performing labour duties;
- Complete base construction activities on company projects and meet productivity goals;
- Provide effective leadership and training to the staff;
- Ordering of equipment and materials;
- Administrative : Filling employee timesheets, safety reports, and other reports as required;
- Supervising workers in a professional manner;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with road construction and minimum 3 years’ experience in supervising crews;
- Thorough knowledge and experience of road base construction process for municipal and commercial sites including residential subdivisions;
- Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under the pressures associated with the job;
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license or above with a clean driver's abstract;
- Ability to construct roads & parking lots to acceptable engineering standards and ready for asphalt or concrete placement in keeping with established timelines;
- High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to follow directions;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with little supervision;
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends;
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills;
- Experience with finish operation of a grader and sub-grade stabilizing;
- Must have valid safety certifications.
