Job summary

Westlake Pipe & Fittings in Laval, Canada is seeking a dayshift Warehouse Associate to process orders, load and unload trailers, and maintain a clean, organized yard and warehouse.

You will read shipping instructions, apply labels, pack pallets and Gaylords, and participate in the PVC recycling program while ensuring safety and accuracy in every step.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in French or English.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Attention to detail and commitment to health and safety at work.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review and process shipping orders as distributed by the shipping supervisor.
• Prepare customer orders accurately using DSI readers.
• Load and unload flatbed and dry van trailers.
• Store finished products in designated inside and outside warehouse locations.
• Maintain the warehouse and yard clean, organized and safe.
• Construct packaging including pallets and Gaylords.
• Inspect packaging and repack damaged products as needed.
• Apply labels and barcodes as required.
• Dispose scrap material in designated recycling bins.
• Participate in the PVC Recovery program, recycling broken pipe scrap.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management.

Principales responsabilités

• Examiner et traiter les commandes d'expédition attribuées par le superviseur de l'expédition.
• Préparer avec précision les commandes des clients à l'aide de lecteurs DSI.
• Charger et décharger des remorques à plateau ainsi que des remorques fermées.
• Ranger les produits finis dans les emplacements désignés à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur de l'entrepôt.
• Maintenir l'entrepôt et la cour propres, organisés et sécuritaires.
• Construire des emballages, y compris des palettes et des Gaylords.
• Inspecter les emballages et réemballer les produits endommagés au besoin.
• Apposer les étiquettes et codes à barres requis.
• Déposer les matériaux de rebut dans les contenants de recyclage appropriés.
• Participer au programme de récupération du PVC en recyclant les tuyaux brisés et les rebuts de tuyaux.
• Effectuer toutes autres tâches connexes assignées.

Qualifications et compétences requises

• Certification valide de chariot élévateur requise.
• Capacité à lire, écrire, comprendre et communiquer efficacement en français ou en anglais.
• Aptitudes de base en mathématiques (addition, soustraction, multiplication et division).
• Capacité de soulever jusqu'à 50 lb (23 kg) .
• Capacité à travailler à l'extérieur dans diverses conditions météorologiques.
• Souci du détail et engagement envers la santé et la sécurité au travail.
• Capacité à travailler de façon autonome ainsi qu'au sein d'une équipe.

Job Requirements

• Review shipping orders as distributed by shipping supervisor.

• Ensure that yard and warehouse are organized in a manner that maximizes efficiency, safety and customer order turnaround.
• Put away all finished product from production area (stock stored inside and outside) in the designated warehouse spaces.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management. Construct packaging i.e Skids/Gaylords
• Inspect packaging.
• Repack damaged products.
• Picking orders with DSI guns
• Unloading & loading of flatbeds and dry vans
• Apply labels as required (i.e. barcodes).
• Keep work area clean (i.e. yard, bundle area)
• Place scrap material in designated material bins (i.e. wood, strapping, cardboard)
• Participate in the PVC Recovery program, ensure recycling of, broken pipe scrap pipe
• Ability to work outside

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Lift truck certification required
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
